Dan Hurley Turns Down Kentucky Offer, Stays at UConn

Hurley's Decision Comes After Back-to-Back NCAA Titles

UConn Head Coach Committed to Huskies Program

Dan Hurley has made it clear he is not interested in the Kentucky basketball head coaching job, despite a lucrative offer from the Wildcats. The back-to-back national championship-winning head coach of the UConn Huskies has emerged as a top candidate for the Kentucky position, but he announced Thursday he will remain at UConn.

Hurley led UConn to its first national championship in 20 years in 2022 and followed it up with another title in 2023. He is just the third men's college basketball coach to win back-to-back titles since 2000, joining Mike Krzyzewski and Roy Williams.

Hurley's decision to stay at UConn is a major victory for the Huskies program. He has quickly established himself as one of the top coaches in the country, and his success has helped to revitalize the UConn basketball program.
