Former University of Iowa basketball standout Kate Martin has been drafted to the Las Vegas Aces with the 18th overall pick in the second round of the 2023 WNBA Draft. The announcement was made at the WNBA Draft held at Spring Studios in New York City on Monday, April 10.
Martin, a 5-foot-10 guard from Clive, Iowa, was a four-year starter for the Hawkeyes and was named to the All-Big Ten Second Team three times. She led Iowa in scoring during her junior and senior seasons and was a three-time Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner.
Martin is expected to contribute immediately to the Aces, who are coming off a runner-up finish in the WNBA Finals. Las Vegas is led by All-Star guard Kelsey Plum and reigning Most Valuable Player A'ja Wilson.
