Grocery Chain Sells Building for $22.3 Million

Festival Foods, a family-owned grocery chain with stores throughout Wisconsin, has announced that it will be closing its Greenfield location. The store, located at 4777 S. 108th Street, will shutter its doors permanently, resulting in the layoff of 91 employees.

In a WARN notice filed Tuesday with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Festival Foods said it plans to permanently close the Greenfield store on April 14, 2023. The company cited "changing consumer shopping habits" and "the competitive grocery market" as reasons for the closure.

The Greenfield store opened in 2020 and was the company's first location in Milwaukee County. Festival Foods has since sold the building to a Texas-based real estate investment trust (REIT) for $22.3 million, according to property records.
